You arrive in Fennorian's study in Castle Ravenwatch. The vampire scholar hunches over his desk, his hands moving like a symphony over a myriad of flasks and bottles.
Fennorian straightens up when you enter and turns to greet you with a reserved smile. He abandons his work to give you his full attention.
Fennorian
"What a pleasant surprise. I did not think I would see you here for some time."Fennorian
"Gwendis neglected to inform me of your visit. I would have cleaned up for you, had I known."Fennorian
"Is everything all right? I don't dare to presume you ventured here just to visit me."— What if I did? I like your company, Fennorian. — I didn’t. Just stopping by.
Fennorian
"Oh? I'm rather fond of yours, as well. I'm happy you're here. I could use a second opinion. You have a brilliant mind; I would be remiss to not take advantage of it while I have you."Fennorian
"Oh? Well, I'm happy you're here. I could use a second opinion. You have a brilliant mind; I would be remiss to not take advantage of it while I have you."
Fennorian gestures you over as he turns back to his desk. You move and stand shoulder to shoulder with him as he looks down, gazing at his work. His sharp profile glows red from a nearby torch.
Fennorian
"I'm working on a health regenerative tonic with some unique properties, but I can't tell if I have the components balanced."
He looks up, curtains of dark hair framing his serious face. A tentative smile curls his lips as his eyes roam over your brow, cheeks, and chin before finally meeting your gaze.
Fennorian
"Perhaps you'd like to try? It's hard to objectively observe my own reaction, as you might imagine. I tried to make it taste of snowberries, if that helps persuade you."
Fennorian kisses you again, deeper and longer this time. Castle Ravenwatch is quiet around you as the two of you do exactly as he suggested.
Fennorian's eyes go wide and his mouth parts slightly, revealing the tips of his fangs. After a moment, he clears his throat and tries to collect himself. A nervous laugh bubbles out of him.
Fennorian
"You never fail to surprise me, you know that? I think that's what makes you so fascinating to me. You often do things I don't expect … things that send me reeling."Fennorian
"Not that I'm complaining, of course. I rather like the way you keep me on my toes. It's intriguing."
Fennorian angles himself closer to you, his hand straying close to yours on the edge of the desk. His pale, near-violet eyes go molten with wanting.
Fennorian
"I don't think you understand the... effect you have on me."Next >
His fingers curl in on themselves on the desk and he looks away from you. His face grows dark, brow crumpling.
Fennorian
"But I don't wish to burden you with this. If you don't feel the same, I will never speak of this again. You have my word."
Fennorian needs no further instruction. He rushes toward you, his hands cupping your jaw, and kisses you with all the tenderness in the world. He lingers there for a moment, steadying himself.
Fennorian
"For a long while, I thought locking away my emotions would keep me safe. And it did, for a time, I suppose. But it also made me incredibly lonely."Next >
His hand brushes against yours and his thumb begins to make small circles across your knuckles. He clears his throat and gives you a sharp smile.
Fennorian
"Then, I met you. Unexpected, exhilarating, radiant ... all of my defenses fell away in an instant. I've thought of this moment for so long, and now that it's finally here, I feel foolish for waiting."
With his free hand, Fennorian grabs you by the hip and pulls you closer. Your hands splay across the firmness of his chest, where you feel a rumble of laughter.
Fennorian
"Now, perhaps we can make up for lost time."
Fennorian nods and moves his hand away. He smiles softly, almost timidly, and gives you an apologetic bow.
Fennorian
"Apologies. As promised, you will never hear me speak of it again. I am perfectly happy counting you as one of my very close friends and would ask nothing more from you."
He turns back to his desk and drums his fingers across the edge. After a moment, he gives you sidelong glance.
Fennorian
"If I haven't sufficiently embarrassed myself beyond redemption, I could still use your help."Fennorian
"And of course, I won't make you sample anything you don't want to. That is a special honor I reserve only for Gwendis."
He laughs gently and makes space on the table for a few more flasks. Then, he begins a long, but rather scintillating summary of his findings with childlike enthusiasm, happy to have someone listen.
Fennorian
"I suppose that’s fair. I’m sorry if I upset you."Fennorian
"I would never willingly cause you any harm. I hope you know that. We’ve known each other long enough that I should think that would be obvious."
Fennorian moves the mixture in question from the middle of the desk.
Fennorian
"If I had even the briefest doubt regarding the safety of this mixture, I would not have offered it."
His eyes move over your face, his brow furrowing.
— I know you would never hurt me, Fennorian. I’m sorry I reacted so strongly. — I don’t think you’re smart enough to know one way or the other.
Fennorian
"It’s quite all right. You're entitled to your reaction. Besides, since becoming a vampire, I’ve gotten rather accustomed to people being suspicious of my intentions."He shrugs his lean shoulders and then resumes his work.
Next >
Fennorian
"I appreciate your apology, of course. It's nice to know that not everyone thinks of me in such ill light. And I apologize, too, for making you uncomfortable. That was never my intention."Fennorian
"Now, if you're still interested in helping, I could certainly use the company."
Fennorian rolls an empty tube between his fingers and offers it to you with a smile. The two of you work side by side, chatting amiably as the night goes on.
End >
Fennorian’s jaw clenches and his eyes harden on your face. He says nothing for a long moment, and then turns back to his desk.
Fennorian
"You’re entitled to your opinion, of course. However mean-spirited it may be."Fennorian
"If you came here merely to insult me, I’m afraid I’m not in the mood. Perhaps find Adusa-daro. She’d make a better sparring partner."Fennorian
"I have a great deal of work to do. If you don’t mind."
Fennorian begins working with his flasks and vials once again and doesn’t spare you a second glance.
